The formation of star clusters and binary stars

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Star formation is one of the main outstanding research areas in astrophysics. It links the scales of galaxy formation to the scales of planet formation. Up to now, no complete picture of the star formation process exists, because the relevant physical processes act in concert and their combined effect is more than the sum of the individual processes. Here we aim to combine for the first time realistic turbulence models with state-of-the-art hydro-dynamical simulations of cloud and star formation, including the most relevant effects: gravity, heating, cooling, magnetic fields, jet/outflow feedback, and radiation transport.
