    Project Details

    Description

The first global history of the organic farming movement reveals how it integrated science and romanticism to transform agricultural practice and consumer habits into a potent political and cultural force in the modern world. The organic farming movement is a middle stage of the environmental movement and vastly understudied. In the face of daunting challenges of nutrition, resource conservation, climate change, and sustainable labor practices this historical project enhances the ability of policy makers, educators and the general public--in Australia and the world--to make historically informed decisions that vitally affect the environment, human health, and our global culture.
