Description
Abusive supervision is common in the Australian workplace. While research has mainly focused on its negative effects on employees, there has been limited consideration of how and why this mistreatment affects the employees' social networks (co-workers and family members). Combining attribution and justice theories, we develop a model of abusive supervision to investigate its impact on the well-being and work behaviour of employees, their co-workers, and their families. A series of studies utilising qualitative and quantitative methodologies are proposed to assess the model. An intervention assisting employees to cope with supervisory mistreatment is also developed and evaluated.
