Project Details
Description
This project aims to understand the role of environmental disasters in the evolutionary trajectory of primates, and to predict impacts of increasing frequency of such disasters in future. Despite recent increases in environmental disasters, no research has considered their impact on wildlife behaviour and distribution using quantitative methods. This project aims to create quantitative, multilayered models of climate tolerances and in relation to the impacts of natural disasters and behavioural adaptations of affected animals. An anticipated outcome is to improve our understanding of animal adaptations to past changes in weather patterns that can be integrated into current conservation policy to improve long term population viability.
