Project Details
Description
This project will make a signficant contribution to contemporary debates about the impact of the mobile phone on work/life balance. It is a widespread assumption that mobile phones allow for the micro-coordination or micro-management of time, tasks, and schedules, increasing the flexibility of combining family and work life. This project proposes to use innovative methodologies to investigate whether the mobile phone does in fact ease or intensify time pressure and how it influences the quality of leisure. More broadly, the study will provide a profound understanding of the social impact of new information and communication technologies on Australian society.
