The Mathematical Analysis of Ultracold Quantum Gases

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This project aims to investigate the properties of systems of ultracold atoms (quantum gases) in which local interactions between atoms conspire to produce new states of matter. These quantum systems are of central importance in condensed matter physics, quantum atom-optics and to the ultimate realisation of quantum technology. They have long defied proper theoretical analysis and continue to pose fundamental challenges to modern science. We aim to address these challenges by applying powerful and sophisticated mathematical techniques developed for integrable models in mathematical physics. This research project will capitalise on our unique assets and advantages in these areas to conduct breakthrough science for the national benefit.
