    Our project aims to transform our understanding of the social (collective) and psychological (individual) forces that shape moral inclusion and drive collective change in society. By leveraging the concept of the moral circle, we propose a novel conceptual model that addresses a critical gap in understanding the factors that drive and restrict moral inclusion in modern society. This research will benefit Australians in several ways. This knowledge will provide novel insights to tackle pressing societal and environmental challenges (e.g., violence against women, the well-being of marginalised Australians, collective action on climate) that cost billions of dollars every year. Socially and culturally, it will also identify strategies to reduce tensions, improve social cohesion, and strengthen our national identity by promoting values of compassion and inclusivity.
