Project Details
Description
This project explores a crucial aspect of the rise of China and India: their pursuit of advanced technology. It first documents their divergent responses to this challenge over the past decade: whereas China has pursued greater self-reliance, India has sought greater cooperation with the outside world. It then explains why their approaches have differed through close scrutiny of the policymaking process in each country. Lastly, it examines both countries' growing technological capabilities. In doing so, the project illuminates the prospects for international cooperation with China and India in key areas and explores an important aspect of their growing power.
