The ZIC3 Heterotaxy-associated transcription factor: a new player in nuclear control of canonical Wnt signalling

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The work of CIA and CIC thus forms a compelling new hypothesis: the predominant functionof Zic3 at gastrulation is to inhibit canonical Wnt signalling and elevated Wnt signallingimpairs left-right (L-R) axis establishment. These two CIs will now join forces with CIBAdamska (ANU, Au) and CID Norris (MRC Harwell, UK) to1) Demonstrate that elevated canonical Wnt signalling at gastrulation impairs L-R axis formation.(2) Elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanism of Wnt activity in L-R axis formation.(3) Identify the constituents of the gastrula Wnt repressor.
