    Project Details

    Description

Understanding how the Australian sector has responded to past changes in global climate is critical for developing robust policies aimed at mitigating the impact of future climate change. Multi-proxy analyses of climate proxy data are a powerful way of reconstructing past climate change. This project will develop high resolution multi-proxy climate data for western Tasmania, a region critically placed to track changes in the Southern Hemisphere Westerly Winds, the primary source of rainfall in southern Australia. Application and testing of cutting-edge methods of climate reconstruction will enable a comprehensive reconstruction of Australian climate change over the last 2000 years and will significantly advance Australian climate research.
