Project Details
Description
This project will be undertaken as part of a Doctoral research degree, and will document an overview of past and current traditions and techniques of indigenous artists working in the tropical rainforests of the Atherton Tablelands and surrounding regions. By visiting the region, engaging in discussion with artists and surveying museum collections, a body of research will be built that provides an overview of some of the artistic traditions and techniques of indigenous rainforest culture. Material studied will play an essential role in broadening the scope of my PhD, and will contribute to the dissemination of indigenous culture in the wider community through both dissertation and a planned exhibition of artworks from the region.
