Transmission constrained near-optimum pathways for <$20/MWh energy

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Ultra-low-cost solar will only be realized when we optimize notjust panels, but how energy is delivered through the optimalmix of siting, transmission and storage. This project willdevelop a multi-dimensional model that quantifies the truedelivered $/MWh of solar under real-world networkconstraints, identifying a wide range of near-optimum,transmission-constrained pathways to ultra-low-cost energy atscale. This work directly addresses one of the two identifiedPP6 gaps: Assess cost and opportunity for large-scaleintegration of ULCS into the Australian grid.
