Project Details
Description
A thorough understanding of the transmission dynamics of zoonotic diseases against a background of environmental change is pivotal to combating its spread and impact on human and veterinary public health. This research project will take a holistic approach to further understand transmission and control. Mathematical models will be developed and applied to simulate zoonotic disease transmission dynamics over space and time; as well as assess the impact of integrated control strategies.
Results not only provide novel insight for policy makers into effective interventions for schistosomiasis, echinococcosis and clonorchiasis, but they also provide a methodological platform for adaptation to other zoonotic emerging and re-emerging diseases.
