Description
Responding to the Australian Productivity Commissions call to better understand the sources of productivity gains, this project studies how transport infrastructure supports innovations, productivity gains, and industrial development. We build a geospatial database covering China's full transportation network 1993-2014, merge it with manufacturing plants longitudinal data, and apply a (quasi)-natural experiments for analyses. The project team consists of two experts on industrial productivity and Chinese economy. The new knowledge derived is beneficial for all economies and particularly so for Australia because Chinas productivity directly impacts Australias industry development through trades and competition.
