Project Details
Description
This project aims to study nuclear reactions identified as of highest priority by US and European working groups. A network of international leading facilities centred around the most powerful accelerator mass spectrometry setup at the ANU will allow new directions of research into (1) key reactions of nucleosynthesis in stars, (2) innovative nuclear technology, crucial for nuclear fusion and advanced reactors, impacting also (3) medical and geological applications. Expected outcomes will be fundamental insights into heavy element nucleosynthesis; it will benefit the general community with qualified research in nuclear technology, non-proliferation, nuclear safeguards and through accelerator-based research relevant e.g. for hadron therapy.
