Project Details
Description
The aim is the better understand the local (nanoscale) structure of lead based piezoelectric ceramics and identify how this leads to their physical properties, particularly the piezoelectric effect. A model of the cruystal is to be developed that descibes the real physical & chemical iterations & give insight for the fundamental reasons for the local structure & disorder. With a better understanding we will be able to optimise existing materials & improve the search for lead-free alternatives
