Description
--- CI wishes to defer start date to 2024 - variation needed --- A full understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying sensory detection and processing in the mammalian cortex is critical to develop targeted approaches to treat neurological disorders. One effective approach is to identify mechanisms that are preserved throughout evolution and examine how these mechanisms generalise from simpler organisms to more complex brains. Transient receptor potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), a member of the TRP family of ion channels, is an example of a potential target for investigation that is well-preserved across species and fits this approach.
