Using applied epidemiology to respond to foodborne diseases and contaminated environments

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

During this Fellowship, I will use applied epidemiology to develop new insights into the epidemiology of foodborne infections and diseases acquired from environmental contamination, such as asbestos or organic chemicals. The outcomes of this Fellowship will benefit society in Australia and internationally. The four themes of the Fellowship include: estimating the burden of foodborne infections globally and locally; incorporating whole genome sequencing data into public health surveillance to aid detection and investigation of epidemic diseases; understanding risk factors to prevent diseases; and the social consequences of contamination events and outbreaks.
