Abstract
The O2 photoabsorption cross section in the region of the B-state dissociation limit was measured using nonlinear, laser-based techniques for the generation of VUV radiation, together with photoelectric detection. Analysis of the measurements produced the first line assignments for the SR(22,0) band, together with corresponding estimates of the triplet-splitting constants which are inconsistent with expectations based on the trend exhibited by lower vibrational levels, displaying what might be described as "λ and γ reversal".
