    Abstract

This report details the process and recommendations from a health impact assessment (HIA) on the draft regulation on marketing of food and non-alcoholic beverages in Fiji. Fiji is the only Pacific Island Country (PIC) to date to have pursued legislation to regulate this advertising, and has developed a draft regulation under its Food Safety Act. The draft regulation is currently (as of March 2016) with the Solicitor Generals office for review, prior to discussion at cabinet. The HIA was conducted with the aim of influencing the content of the draft regulations and also the actions that the Food Taskforce Technical Advisory Group (FT-TAG) can undertake to foster support for those regulations to be adopted.
