    Abstract

A new caryophyllene, 4,5-epoxy-13-hydroxy-β-caryophyllene, has been isolated from Pterocaulon serrulatum using a bioassayguided fractionation procedure. Several known compounds were also identified in the extracts, including 14-hydroxy-β-caryophyllene, three simple coumarins and a flavanone.
