Abstract
Almost all of the comparative legal work on Japan in English uses the USA as its contrastive model. Indeed, this is the genesis of some of the misconceptions about Japanese law. Now that courses and a nucleus of Japanese law specialists have been established in Australia, we have the opportunity to produce research incorporating Australian norms and concerns.
