    Abstract

The developments in the field of acoustics in view of the year 2005 being designated as the International Years of Physics by United Nation are discussed. Music, in ancient times, was also taken to be the basis off astronomy, or at least of the arrangement of the planet in the solar system. The music of spheres tended to dominate ancient astronomy thinking and, while it proved to be a false analogy, it did at least serve to bring some sort of order into what was otherwise a completely inexlicable system. Architectural acoustics, also has a very long history, albeit of a rather qualitative but practical kind.
