Alpine Geschichten des globalen Wandels: Eine Annäherung in fünf Bildskizzen

What does everyday life in the Alps in the 21st century look like? In this volume, the Max-Planck research group "Alpine Histories" presents the results of four years of research in the Alps in between the local and the global: Annika Lems, Danae Leitenberg, Christine Moderbacher, Herta Nöbauer and Markus Wurzer tell stories about time, the self and the other in the German-speaking Alpine region, from the perspective of four anthropologists and one historian.
Organised along the lines of an imaginary alpine village, the book presents stories about the relationship between centers and peripheries, about perspectives on climate change in ski destinations, about the invisible flipside of tourism, about colonial history, about sustainable agricultural practices and about engagements with memory in a village museum.
