Abstract

Amelia Lovo is a painter and visual artist, from the island of Erromango, living in Port Vila. Her paintings explore traditional symbols and patterns. The work she created for Step Folem Step included new works on tapa, or bark cloth, which she made herself during a research trip to Erromango in 2020. During this trip Amelia researched and made paints from traditional materials. Several of her paintings on tapa use these natural colours.
