    Abstract

This chapter explores, through four case studies in Australian public policy, the factors that support resilient transformational public policy. We define resilient public policy as policy that is both durable and beneficial from a broad socioeconomic perspective. The four case studies encompass a period of more than 30 years and different federal governments: • Australia’s National Competition Policy (NCP) of the 1990s, which saw real price reductions in electricity, water, rail transport, port charges, telecommunications and milk.
