Analyzing the development of Chinese Uighur population: 2000-2010

    Abstract

    Chinese Uighur is an important member of Chinese nation. Based on the aggregate data of Chinese 5th and 6thNational Population Census in 2000 and 2010, this paper calculate a series of demographic indexes to demonstrate the solidification in geographical distribution and social class of Uighur population and its corresponding potential changes in social split. The results indicate some effective policies to help Chinese Uighur population efficiently and actively participate in ongoing modernization process in China.
