Abstract
This appendix provides an overview of the design and implementation of the first four waves of the Negotiating the Life Course project. The first section provides an outline of the questionnaire content, including a summation of the standard demographic questions as well as modules that were introduced after the first wave. In the second section we present an explanation of the sample design and sampling frame. This includes information about the interval between waves, the inclusion of a top-up sample (N = 2,000) in Wave 4, and the basic demographic characteristics of the respondents. We then describe the data collection method (CATI), and the strategies used to keep track of respondents between waves. The final section summarises non-response categories and attrition of the sample over time.
