Abstract
A contribution to the first monograph of the international net art pioneer, Olia Lialina (born 1971 in Moscow), edited by Valérie Perrin. Published on the occasion of the exhibition 'Olia Lialina, Something For Everyone' at Espace Multimedia Gantner, Bourogne, from September 12 to November 22, 2020. The monograph is published in English and French by respected art publisher les presses du réel. My chapter, 'As we may blink' offers a critical assessment of Lialina's works which respond to the vernacular web, asserting a politics of the material infrastructures grounded in software studies, rather than a formalist art historical reading.
