Abstract
Five decades ago, Asia was barely noticeable in the global wine marketplace, and all other developing countries, apart from those examined in preceding chapters, also were very minor players. Since the 1990s, however, several East Asian economies have rapidly become significant importers of wine and, in China’s case, also a significant producer of wine. This chapter therefore focuses mostly on developments in Asia, but finishes with a brief section on other developing country regions.
