Abstract
During the Australian Summer break, December and January with soprano Heather Lee I moved to Auroville, South India to undertake an immersive artistic practice project, exploring intercultural sacred music through a concert series with Lee and Iraqi oud virtuoso Anwar Abudragh. This involved 2 international concerts, a broadcast and a series of workshops. Research: Intercultural music practice, as well as an ongoing project into how best to play Jewish and Islamic music together. Repertoire investigated in the research: Notions of Indian and Western classical music were explored with concerts featuring the music of Hildegard of Bingen, Classical Arabic and Jewish music and intercultural music practice.
