    Abstract

The Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) is recognised as the most prestigious international chamber music event in Australia. Held in Townsville, North Queensland for 10 days at the end of July each year, the Festival has an enviable global reputation for the quality of its distinguished musicians as well as the quality of its programming and presentation. The Australian Festival of Chamber Music is a happy meeting place for NQ locals as well as Australian and overseas visitors who enjoy the opportunity to hear and meet international musicians in a wonderfully inviting and unsurpassed tropical winter setting. Sally Walker performed 20 works in 10 concerts. Reviews stated “Some of Walker’s long-breathed virtuosic passages had the audience in awe” (Limelight), “Buenos Aires was represented in a smoky performance of Piazzolla’s Café 1930 from Histoire du Tango, Sally Walker bringing delicacy and elasticity to the flute lines” (Limelight). Recitals were broadcast by the ABC and BBC.
