Abstract
The period covered by this chapter, 1962-75, highlights a dramatic shift in how ASIO operated, both in its establishment and roles, in TPNG. This was a busy and turbulent time in which ASIO's existence in a foreign nation was questioned, and throughout which the Liaison Office - one that was peculiar in comparison to ASIO's other overseas posts - provided necessary support to a developing nation and its security apparatus.
