Abstract

What can actors in Southern Transylvania do to actively work towards a sustainable future for their region a future characterized by strong communities, a healthy environment, and a prospering local economy? To answer this question, this book builds on several years of social-ecological research. It showcases some of the most exciting sustainability initiatives in Southern Transylvania, and it highlights tangible ways in which these initiatives can be amplified so they can generate yet more positive impact. Through embedding sustainability initiatives in communities, linking and spreading successful initiatives, and engaging with a diversity of rules and mindsets, major progress can be made towards sustainability. Building on the many success stories to date, Southern Transylvania can become a global leader in sustainable regional development.
