Abstract

A superconducting heavy-ion linear accelerator is being installed to boost the energies of beams from the ANU 14UD Pelletron. The design of the beam transport system and the calculated beam characteristics are described. Features include: a waist-to-waist transverse profile through the cryostats that does not follow the physical modularity of the accelerator; a time-energy lens to deliver either monoenergetic beams or subnanosecond pulsed beams on target.
