Beam shaping by a periodic structure with negative refraction

    Abstract

    The transmission of a layered photonic structure consisting of alternating slabs of two materials with positive and negative refractive index was investigated. A number of unique properties of the beam transmission observed in strong beam modification and reshaping was also analysed. An unusual angular dependency of beam transmission was observed through the photonic crystals.
