    Abstract

This paper discusses that one of the major issues on the agenda of NATO's Summit in Chicago in May 2012 will be the ongoing transition in Afghanistan. With the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation gradually coming to a close, the question is how the relationships between NATO and its 'partners across the globe' can be developed beyond Afghanistan.
