[BOOK REVIEW] Analysis of Biomarker Data

Research output: Contribution to journalLiterature review

    Abstract

The title and the preface of this book make a good starting point for this review, as they lay out exactly the parameters under which this book should be considered. It's a practical guide at a fairly low technical level (p. xiii) which should appeal to clinicians who deal with biomarker data on a daily basis. Even so, the book does not shy away from technical details entirely. Many formulas for common statistical estimators and tests are included, as are examples of software use, especially SAS code. The more intermediatelevel statistical concepts of exact methods and the testing of distributional assumptions are also emphasised. Multivariable models are outside the scope of the book, except for some mention of multiple regression and mixed models. Statisticians could find it [this book] to be of interest, and so it is appropriate to review it in this journal.
