Book Review: "La Foresta Assassina" di Sara Blaedel (Fazi) (The Murderous Forrest)

Beloved by audiences and critics, Blaedel, in the new text The Assassin Forest, has skillfully assembled different genres: thriller, mystery, suspense, yellow. At the beginning, perhaps one wonders if it is not a new 'men who hate women at Nesbo'. The horrendous, violent and dangerous primordial initiation rites to which the 15-year-old Sune is subjected by local men, including his father, belonging to a 'religious' sect that idolizes ancient Norwegian deities. The boy, despite having grown up in the small Scandinavian neo-pagan community, does not share the ancestral beliefs of other men, so he flees into the forest upset by fear. Here too the investigations are entrusted to the detective Louise Rick, returned to work after a long forced absence. To Louise and Eik, his partner in the case, it seems very strange that the family of the missing young man, especially his father, seems even relieved that his son is not here. Another important character especially for the plot of the text is Camilla Lind, a freelance journalist (page 36), probably an alter ego of the author who worked for many years as a journalist and editor before starting to write novels. The case is complicated by bringing to light unresolved old crimes, and runs towards conclusions that will perhaps make you stifle tears or tears.
