Abstract
Thanks to Epeli Hau’ofa’s vision of an expansive and interconnected Oceania,
originally articulated in his 1993 essay “Our Sea of Islands,” there is now at least

about the globe’s largest body of water in terms such as an oceanic highway,
an integrated ecosystem, or even a Pacific world.
