Abstract
This ambitious volume reviews the policy and legal framework of development-forced displacement in India. Underpinned by ethnographically based assessments on current resettlement practice in both the public and the rapidly expanding private spheres, the fifteen chapters combine scholarship, advocacy and practice. As the leading academic researcher, practitioner and policy adviser on resettlement in India, Hari Mohan Mathur is well placed to present an introduction and overview, write two of the chapters, as well as edit the remainder.
