    Abstract

Most experiments on dilute gas Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) are performed with atoms that has a repulsive two-body interaction. Exceptions are the experiments on 7Li and, more recently, on 85Rb. This paper reports on the modeling of the 85Rb collapse experiments, using the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation for the expectation value of the field operator.
