Abstract
Copropagating helicons with azimuthal mode numbers m = +1 and m = -1 have been observed in a large-diameter, weakly-magnetized helicon plasma source (13.5 cm diameter, 55 G). The amplitude and parallel wave number of the m = + 1 helicon are generally larger than those of the m = -1 helicon, in agreement with theory. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
