    Abstract

A commissioned performance as part of the NETS Victoria/ Monash Museum of Art touring exhibition, 'Seeing Voices'. It was performed at two venues and each performance included two parts: a recording session, which involved an active live audience; and then generated audio played through the exhibition space, which was more of an intermittent experience for the general public. Continuing my work with digital assistants like Siri, I presented a *Chorus* at both Riddoch Art Gallery, Mount Gambier, and the Plimsoll Gallery in the School of Creative Arts, University of Tasmania, Hobart. While Apple engaged a single actor to provide the voice of Siri, I created a synthetic digital voice with many people. I organized an interactive performance in which I made short recordings of multiple gallery visitors reading phrases selected from Uber's driver contract. I then used these recordings to train a voice that made periodic announcements in the galleries. The performance was both the process of speaking with the public and recording voices as well as the generated announcements. I am including one piece of generated audio as evidence: the Hobart version of the voice reciting a text from Nanni Balestrini's revolutionary text, 'We Want Everything' (1971)
