Abstract

Christopher Tevi has been working with kastom forms and materials in his artwork for many years. He is best known for his works on tapa (bark cloth) using graphic styles drawn from traditional sand drawing In the short film portrait below Christopher Tevi describes his creative practice and its development, including his journey to learn how to produce tapa in the style of the old people from Pentecost island.

Filmed and edited by Maya Haviland as part of research into REMIX1 - negotiating kastom and contemporary art in Vanuatu.
