Closing optical transitions for single rare-earth ion spin readout

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

We present a protocol that makes rare-earth ion spin-states robust against optical cycling by applying specifically oriented magnetic fields. The resultant closed optical transitions open a pathway for rare-earth qubits at the single ion level.
