Abstract

We demonstrate modified photon echoes in Eu^{3 +}:Y₂ SiO₅ by controlling the inhomogeneous broadening of the ⁷F₀ ↔ ⁵D₀ optical transition in Eu^{3 +}. These modified photon echoes are shown to be capable of storing phase and amplitude modulation.
