Abstract
This article is a sequel to the Collators Notes for the Bilingual Edition of The Story of the Stone published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press in 2012, showing how the bilingual edition reconstructed a Chinese text to reflect the English translation of the two translators David Hawkes and John Minford. The collators job in the bilingual edition was two-fold: one is the revision of the English text, which will be discussed in another article in due course; the other is the collation of the Chinese texts, on which this article elaborates. The article discusses the process of the editorial changes made to the copy text.
