    Abstract

The formal qualities of this works are the guts, in a tradition that listens to Modernism. My instinct is to be physically responsive to paint as a changeable matter. I think and feel in gesture. Impulse is then structured and shaped. I use ideas of Minimalism as a platform to launch from. I am proud to say as contemporary painter I am reinterpreting what it means to be engaging in such phenomena in the now. I revisit Yves Klein attitudes towards Minimalism and his references to the void. What does this mean now that we have penetrated the virtual world through developments of technologies? What does transcendence though painting mean today? The title Its all about Eve references and pays homage to Yves Klein, yet Ive feminised his name in an intentionally cheeky manner, as I quietly challenge gender stereotypes and roles.
