Abstract
In this article I argue that academic fora on Chinese Studies tend to divided along linguistic lines and that far more effort is needed to enable scholars who communicate in Chinese and scholars who communicate in English to be involved in joint research so that different premises and guiding parameters can be shared and made explicit. it is argued that greater attention to collaborative research across different languages in Chinese Studies will help to strengthen the field.
